Getting ready:

Loft Polished Concrete can be used on all sound, clean and dry perfectly smooth surfaces (in particular plasterboard strips).

Mandatory step:

Apply a coat of Undercoat Primer for wall coatings using a paint roller. Follow the recommendations given on the Primer cans. Do not apply to wallpaper. 

Application:

Stir well before use. Apply a very thin and even coat of Loft Polished concrete using our Stainless Steel Spatula or Stainless Steel Trowel (the primer may be visible here and there). Warning : if a too thick coat is applied, fine cracks may appear.  Allow to dry for ±4 hours before applying a second very thin layer, in a criss-cross motion and burnishing with the edge of the float to obtain a very smooth surface.

Finishing (Mandatory step):

Allow to dry for ±8 hours and polish with very fine Anciens Ébénistes Steel wool 000 or North American standard steel wool 0000. 1 skein of Steel wool for every bucket of LOFT Polished concrete is needed.

Protection (Optional step):

Apply a coat of Protector for LOFT – Matt finish. Important : the application of a Protector will diminish the effects of the Loft Polished Concrete and darken its shade.

Professional tips :

• Do a test sample before applying. It will allow you to feel the texture and will facilitate the application on the wall.
• Make sure to use a Steel wool 000 (or North american standard 0000) after the second coat. Using a rougher steel wool will scratch the finish instead of polishing it.
  
• You have coating left over? Put a plastic wrap to protect the coating from the air and keep well sealed at room temperature for future use.
